Mass of Christian Burial for Mary H. Roberts of Lander is at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander.

Mrs. Roberts died Friday afternoon, Aug. 26, 2011, at the Westward Heights Care Center in Lander. She was 92.

Mary Halloran was born in Grand Forks, N.D. on Saturday, May 31, 1919, the daughter of Joseph Edward Halloran and Eva (Poupore) Halloran. She was graduated from high school in Madera, Calif., and earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of California-Berkley.

She married Charles Elmer Roberts on Nov. 30, 1942, in Santiago, Chile, South America.

Mrs. Roberts was an art teacher in Roseburg, Oregon, and substitute taught in Portland, Oregon. She traveled with her husband's career in Africa, Canada, South America, and Brazil.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she taught CCD classes while living in Lander from 1961 – 1964. She also taught in the various communities in which the family had lived.

She was a member of the Historical Society in Sonoma, Calif., and acted as Docent at the Historical Museum.

She returned to Lander in 2002.

Her family said she enjoyed playing bridge, took art classes and painted and drew as a hobby, and loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Scarlett and husband Jack of Lander; grandchildren, Michael Scarlett and his wife Marcie of Buffalo, and Thomas Scarlett and wife Julie of Casper; great grandchildren, Matthew Scarlett, Valerie Scarlett, and Brittney Scarlett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Roberts on Feb. 19, 1999, and a sister, Anne Linton in 2010.
