Geraldine L. "Gerry" Vermillion

Geraldine L “Gerry” Vermillion, 95, of Riverton, died at her home on Saturday, June 8 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Davis Funeral Home. Pastor Robin Stupka will officiate. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Geraldine Louise Annan was born in Coin, IA on March 21, 1918 the daughter of Bryan and Grace (Heller) Annan. She graduated from Coin High School in 1935. The family moved to Pavillion, WY in 1935 to farm land in the Midvale area that had been homesteaded by her grandfather, Lewis Annan in 1906. At that time Mrs. Vermillion’s father Bryan, as a boy 10 years old, had spent time in WY with his father, Lewis, proving up the homestead.

On December 20, 1941 she married Edwin Vermillion in Lander, WY. Ed was inducted into military service in January of 1942 and served for four years. After his return from Germany, they made their home farming in the Midvale area until 1992, when they moved to Riverton.

Mrs. Vermillion was a homemaker and farm wife and worked as a secretary – bookkeeper with 27 of those years at Midvale Irrigation District in Pavillion.

She served several years as Fremont County Election Clerk in the Midvale District and was a Memorial Hospital Auxiliary member after moving to Riverton. She was a 50 plus year member of OAO Extension Club. Her family said she enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by her son, Robert Vermillion and his wife Sharon of Riverton; her daughter, Charlene Stone and her husband Clyde of Riverton; her grandchildren, Heidi Olson and her husband Rob, Marci Campbell and her husband, Jason, Robert Brown, Tracey Wiley and her husband David, Linda Gillum and her husband Shawn, and Tom Vermillion and his wife Nicole; her brother, Keith Annan of Thermopolis; her sister, Lois Jean Wagner of Phoenix, AZ; her sister-in-law, Donna Annan of Payson, AZ; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; cousin, Judy Fanning, of Riverton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Grace Annan; her husband, Edwin, of 70 years, whom passed 09/17/2012; her brother, Bill Annan; her sister-in-law, Lois Annan; and her uncle, Fred Heller.

Memorial may be made to Amedisys Hospice or The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of Davis Funeral Home.
