Rodney “Rod” K. Thayer, 58, of Riverton died on Tuesday, May 5 2015, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Dower officiating.

Rodney Kent Thayer was born on March 6, 1957 in Bozeman, MT to Laurence Edwin and Donna Merlin (Nelson) Thayer. He grew up in the Bozeman area with his brother and sister. He graduated from high school form Bozeman High School.

He worked in the oil field after school and continued to after moving to Riverton, WY in 1981. He had worked for Stallion Oil for the last 14 years as a service hand.

On September 29, 1990 he married his wife of 24 years, Kim Wells, in Bozeman, MT. They made their home in Riverton where they raised their two daughters.

His family said that he loved hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, boating, and he really LOVED golfing. He loved the outdoors and everything about it. Above all he loved his family and being with them and his friends. His family said it did not matter where they went he always knew someone, he did not know a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Kim of Riverton; his daughters, Erika Thayer and her boyfriend, Daaron Webster and Kristal Thayer and her boyfriend, Hunter Crowley all of Riverton; his father-in-law, James Wells of South Belot, IL; his brother Terry Thayer and his wife, Suzy, of Bozeman, MT; his sister, Thea Paugh and her husband, Jerry, of Edgar, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Donna Thayer; his mother-in-law, Betty Jean Wells; and his Uncle Buck Thayer.
