Barbara J. Groves a lifelong resident of Lander passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones Tuesday Oct. 20, 2015.

Born April 3, 1932 to James and Mildred (Lockard) St. John Barbara was the eldest of 5 children.

She graduated Fremont County Vocational High School in 1951 during which she worked at City Bakery where she met Roy A. Groves who became her husband and father of their 5 children. From there she went to work as a switchboard operator until they went to dial up service, she was a secretary and mover for two moving company’s, a nurses aide at Bishop Randall Hospital and finally retiring from the payroll office. at Wyoming State Training School after which she and her good friend, Janet Homec, opened Down Home Bakery in Hudson.

Barbara was a caring, devoted, and selfless Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She had a beautiful smile, infectious laughter, good heart, strong will, and words of wisdom that will be very missed by all who knew her.

Barbara enjoyed baking, cooking, crafting, working in her yard, playing canasta, pinochle, volunteering her services and being with her family.

She is survived by her Daughter Joanne Le Clair and her husband Richard; Daughter MerriAnn June; Son Arthur Groves and his wife Towana; Daughter Patti Sheehan and her husband Pat; Son Andrew Groves and beloved pet Chucky.

She is also survived by 15 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; Her brother Burt St. John and his wife Ethelyn; Sister Laurel Ridgeway and her husband David and various nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents James and Mildred St. John and brothers, James Melvin St. John who died at 6 mo. and Henry St. John.

As were her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held with her family at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Help for Health Hospice in Riverton, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
