Gordeena Whiting, 60, of Araphaoe, died at her home on Saturday, December 5, 2015. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Mission at Ethete, WY with burial to follow at the Sage Redman Cemetery.

Gordeena Theresa Whiting was born on November 30, 2015 in Wheatland, WY to Gordon Shakespeare and Theresa (Spoonhunter) Whiting. She was given the Arapaho name of “Woman When The Sun Rises (Dawn)” Ha doc uu sa. She grew up in the Casper and Riverton areas.

She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked in the Fremont County area.

Deena as she was known by family and friends, was proud of her Arapaho heritage and it showed in her artistic design of beadwork and crafts. There was always laughter in her heart with her storytelling and quick wit which she shared with her many relatives and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Nevada Whiting and Benjamin Conrad; her grandson, Christopher Smart; other family members, Darlene and Marty Conrad, Dorene Whiting, Allen and Elliot Whiting, Juanita and Shorty Stamp, Issac Chaves, Jr. and Georgia Gneting, Kevin and Allyn Stamp, Lorrisa Smith, Nykomia Whiting, Sabre, Paiola and Gordon Whiting Ocon, Antoninette Harris and Irene Dewey, George Spoonhunter, Margaret St. Clair, and Spoonhunter, Trumbull and Shakespeare families.

To those who have gone before her and await her are her parents; mother, Frances Makeshine; grandparents, William Shakespeare, Roy and Beatrice Spoonhunter; her siblings, E. Carol Hensley and Gordon T. Whiting; her nephews, Stallone Trosper and Matt Stamp; and Issac Chavez, III and Melissa Chavez.
