Franklin L. Lanier of Riverton died early Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009, at Morning Star Manor at Fort Washakie. He was 61. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Franklin L. Lanier was born in Philadelphia, Penn., on Jan. 12, 1948, the son of James and Mabel (Riggs) Lanier.

He came to Fremont County 40 years ago to work in the uranium industry. After the mines closed he became a beekeeper for Wind River Honey, retiring in the late 90's.

He married Elaine Meyer on Sept. 18, 1972, in Riverton

His family said Mr. Lanier enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, and stock car racing.

Survivors include a daughter, Francine (Lanier) Johnson and her husband Van of Riverton; three grandchildren, Garret Ryan, Marissa Elizabeth, and Tanner Daniel; sisters, Ellen Robinson and husband Charles H., Norma Steward and husband Larry, Peggy Gallegos and husband Tito, and Redelia Lanier; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Vanona Lanier.
