Memorial services for Melvin L. Baldes of Riverton will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton with Rev. John Gocke of the Neighborhood Alliance Church officiating.
Mr. Baldes died Saturday evening, June 27, 2009, at Wind River Healthcare in Riverton. He was 86.
Melvin Lawrence Baldes was born in Riverton on Feb. 15, 1923, the son of Claude and Cecilia Baldes. He had lived all his life in Riverton.
Mr. Baldes worked as a carpenter. He had worked as a cement finisher for many years, but due to illness took up carpentry. In the earlier years, he was involved with the tie drives down the Wind River.
His family said he enjoyed wood carving, gardening, arrowhead collecting and carving.
Survivors include sons, Michael Steve Baldes and Claude Baldes, both of Riverton, and Lawrence Baldes of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.
