Funeral services for Iris M. Black of Casper will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Stephens Catholic Church south of Riverton. Interment will follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Great Plains Hall, with a wake to follow at 192 Left Hand Ditch Road.
Mrs. Black died Friday, October 23, 2009 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She was 51 years old.
Iris Mae Lonewolf was born January 18, 1958 in Oglala, So. Dak., the daughter of Wilbert Lonewolf, Sr. and Eva (Killswarrior) Lonewolf. She grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation, and went to school at the Holy Rosary Elementary School in Pine Ridge. She then attended the Job Corps in Clearfield, Utah.
She married Earl Black on Nov. 11, 1980 and moved to Riverton he later passed away. She has spent the last 15 years in Casper.
For a time, Mrs. Black was involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The family said she enjoyed making puzzles, playing bingo and cards, watching movies, listening to music and singing.
Mrs. Black is survived by her companion, Keith Bynum of Casper; daughters, Olivia and Eileen Black of Arapahoe; adopted son, Loyrel Crow; brothers-in-law, Lyle Black, Sr., Lemuel Black, Sr., Duane Bell, Sr. and Nelson Moss; sisters-in-law, Sarah Black, LaVern Brown, Myrtle Oldman, Emma Moss, Sadie Bell, Priscilla Y’Barra; cousins Carol and Craig Kugler; numerous nieces and nephews and South Dakota relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Black; parents; brother, Wilbert Lonewolf, Jr.; sister, Wilma Lonewolf; sons Aloysius and Irvin.
