Linda F. Anderson, age 79, well known Riverton, Wyoming educator and resident passed away at her home Monday, January 8, 2024. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Rusty's Corner "Cafeteria" at Central Wyoming College.

Linda Faye Pendley was born on May 26, 1944 in Powell, Wyoming to Leo H. and Nola M. (Carpenter) Pendley.

Linda was a 1962 graduate of Powell High School and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1966 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.  In the fall of 1966 Linda started her teaching career at Northwest College in Powell.  She taught for Fremont County School District #25 for 45 years from 1974 – 2019.  Her teaching career was 50 + years.  She also coached swimming from 1975 - 1988.  She will be remembered for her dedication to her students.

Linda loved to dance (the Jitterbug was her favorite), she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and teaching was her passion. She had a great sense of humor and strived to put a smile on every face even if it was at her own expense. She cared deeply for others, wanting each and every person to know how special they were. Linda was a good listener with a compassionate heart. Being humble, she did not want anyone to fuss over her. Linda had the warmest, kindest soul, unless a bad word was spoken within earshot, then the offending party could expect a swat from the newspaper or the slap of a rubber chicken to get them back in line.

Words cannot describe the sadness the family feels or the hole in their hearts with her passing. She was a Mother to many, a Grammy to more, a mentor to most, and a friend to all who knew her. Not a day will go by that Linda is not missed.

Per Linda’s wishes, if anyone would like to donate, please do so to someone who may be suffering from an illness: the Tough Enough Cancer Fund of Fremont County.  Another option is to the Paws for Life Animal Shelter to help animals find their forever home.  Please send donations to the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Nola Pendley; three brothers, Gary, Darrell, and Danny Pendley and loving son, Troy Anderson.

She is survived by daughter, Tanya and husband Jason Lopez, and the light-of-her-life, granddaughter, Maci Lopez.  All three survivors recognize that not a moment will pass when they do not yearn to hear her laughter, to see her smile or to hug Linda.

On-line condolences may be made at TheDavisFuneralHome.com

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home, Crematory and Monuments.
