Raphael “Ralph” Metcalf, 83, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away at his home on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

 

Raphael Freeman Metcalf was born on June 6, 1940 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Ralph Francis and Gertrude Mae (Losey) Metcalf.  He grew up in Hayward, Wisconsin and graduated from Hayward High School.  Thirty-five years ago, he moved to Wyoming and made it his family’s home.

 

Ralph was of the Christian faith.

 

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 25, 1957 and served until being Honorably discharged August 21, 1959. He returned to Hayward, Wisconsin.

 

On March 19, 1971 he married Marjorie “Marg” Ann Hall. They were married over 52 years. Together they had four children, Raphael, Jr., Kimberly, Shannon, and Frances.

 

Ralph worked as a heavy equipment operator and drove truck for Rice Kilroy before retiring and also worked for Teton National Park and Earth Works.

 

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and rock hunting and Wyoming was perfect for him.

 

He is survived by his wife, Marg Metcalf; sons, Raphael (Kerrie) Metcalf, Jr. and Nick (Kim) Ramharter; daughters Kimberly Metcalf and Shannon (Jesse) Metcalf; grandchildren, Jory Metcalf, Jenelle Hampton, Jayce Gantenbein, Jaxson Hymes, Cody Metcalf, Jesse Metcalf, Erin Thompson, Gage Clawson, Jocelyn Clawson, Jordan Quenneville and Josh Ramharter; great grandchildren, Sloan Hampton, Cash Shields, Rhett Shields, Josie Sheilds, Cody Metcalf, Reina Givens, Hazey Givens, Bronson Givens, Payden Givens and Cooper Quenneville; and sister, Mary Metcalf-Eytcheson.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Gertrude and Ralph Metcalf; grandparents, Freeman and Sarah Metcalf, and Claude and Bessie Losey; brother, David Metcalf; and son, Frances Metcalf.
