A memorial service for Leo Wesley Hanway II, age 57, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.  Inurnment will follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.  A Viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Arapahoe School.  A Vigil with a rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Fireman’s Last Bell delivered by the Fremont County Fire District, Battalion #1.

 

Leo was born to Leo and Azalea (Waterman) Hanway on April 23, 1966 in Casper, Wyoming.  He grew up in Jeffery City before spending the remainder of his life in Arapahoe, Wyoming.  

 

Leo worked at the Arapahoe School for 35 years, then continued his service to the district after his retirement on the school board.  Leo also volunteered for the Fremont County Fire District, Battalion #1 for 15 years.  He loved volunteering and anyone could count on him for his help.

 

He loved collecting trains and guns. He loved to travel and try new foods. 

 

Leo is survived by his brothers Bridger and his wife Christyl Hanway, Bert and his wife, Shanna Hanway; his girls, Azalea, Karen, Jalene, Cimmi and Moony; granddaughters Mae Iris, Annebelle, and Avaija; nephews, Jacob and his wife, Jaelynn, Dorian and his wife, Jorden; as well as his numerous family members, friends, all past and present kids of Arapahoe School and beyond. 

 

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
