Richard McKenzie, 78, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away at his home on Friday, March 1, 2024.  There will be no services held.

 

Richard Gayle McKenzie was born July 5, 1945 in Evanston, Wyoming to George E. and Merilyn Ann (Davis) McKenzie. He grew up between Edgerton, Wyoming and Midwest, Wyoming and graduated from Midwest High School.

 

On August 5, 1963 he married Voda Carr in Midwest, Wyoming. They were married 55 years and raised three children. Voda passed away on January 11, 2019.

 

Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 5, 1963 and was Honorably discharged on July 18, 1966.

 

After being discharged from the U.S. Navy, Richard moved to Denver, Colorado working as a manger for three Phillips Petroleum Service Stations. After Denver the family moved to Leadville, Colorado for six years where he worked as a General Wholesale Distributor. In 1976 they moved to Riverton, Wyoming where Richard worked at the School Bus Garage for approximately nine years then going to work in Lander, Wyoming in the parts department of Toyota. For the last ten to fifteen years of his career he attended trade shows selling souvenirs.  He retired to Granbury Texas and lived there until Voda passed away then he moved back to Riverton, Wyoming to be near family.

 

Richard enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, camping, and was an avid hunter.  His passion was his wife and motorcycles.

 

He is survived by his son, Randy McKenzie and wife, Autumn; daughters, Rhonda McKenzie and Gayle Strickland and husband, Ray; grandchildren, Levi Chancellor, Ricki Coyle, Ranee Clyde, Destini Haselhuhn, Shayla Williams, Nicolette Williams, Ashly Piper, Keshia Strickland and NaTasha Strickland; and great grandchildren, Kaylum Piper, Gavyn Piper, Leah Piper, Quiana Piper, Keko Piper, Mila Piper, Keano Piper, Azayla Esquivel, Araya Esquivel, Maveryck Haselhuhn, Zoey Waldner, Lennon Coyle, Harmonie Clyde, Carmen Clyde, Stella Coyle and Harrison Coyle.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Merilyn McKenzie; and wife, Voda McKenzie.
