Kenneth D. "Dale" Wolford, Jr., of Lander died at Riverton Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning, Feb. 11, 2010, at the age of 83.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Kenneth Dale Wolford was born on Feb. 3, 1927, in Bonham, Texas, one of three children of Kenneth Dale Wolford, Sr., and Audrey (Duncan) Wolford.

He married Wanda Joyce Womach in Sherman, Texas, on March 29, 1951.

The family moved to Colorado, then to Gillette, before coming to Lander in 1971.

Mr. Wolford worked in law enforcement for 30 years, including the Lander Police Department and then the Fremont County Sheriff's Department.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

His family said Mr. Wolford enjoyed reading and watching Western movies and the History Channel on television.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Wolford of Lander; a son, Glen Allen Wolford of Casper; a sister, Doris Emhoff of Stephenville, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marie Nichols.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lander in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
