James W. Moon

James W. Moon died at his home in Riverton on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, following an extended illness. He was 56.

Memorial services are at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at St. John Lutheran Church in Riverton.

James Wayne Moon was born in Newcastle on June 23, 1954, the son of Bill and Eileen Moon. He was graduated from Riverton High School in 1972 and lived most of his adult life in Riverton.

He was married to Brenda McCart and they had one son, Justin.

His family said Mr. Moon was an avid soccer dad and was an assistant coach for his son's team. The family said they also shared a love for rock climbing and rock concerts.

He later married Joanne Mitchell, from whom he was separated at the time of his death..

Mr. Moon worked as a surveyor at the uranium mines and for the City of Wheat Ridge, Colo. He also worked in the oil field where, his family said, his favorite jobs were those where he worked with his father, whom he considered as his best friend.

The family said Mr. Moon enjoyed doing all things outdoors, especially camping, motorcycles, and gardening. They said he was an excellent woodworker and had a special interest in both astronomy and Egypt.

Mr. Moon is survived by his father, Bill Moon; son, Justin James Moon; sister, Linda Lee Moon; aunt, Beverly Costello of Scottsbluff, Neb.; cousins, Kenny, Starleen, and Brenda of Nebraska, Cheryl and Shelly of Utah, and Paulett and Sherry, and husband Dennis, of Colorado.

Memorials may be made to the Little Wind Hospice or St. John Lutheran Church care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
