A memorial service for James D. "Jim" Rittenhouse of Riverton is at 10 a.m. on Thursday Jan. 13, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton with Pastor Echo Klaproth officiating.

Mr. Rittenhouse died on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at the Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton. He was 74

James Doyle Rittenhouse was born in Taylor, Neb., on Jan. 10, 1936, the son of Tom and June B. (Swanson) Rittenhouse.

On Feb. 27, 1985, he married Jeanette.

Mr. Rittenhouse served six years in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

His family said Mr. Rittenhouse enjoyed spending time with his family, had a passionate love of horses from raising them to racing them, riding his four-wheeler around town visiting friends at the coffee shop, post office, and elsewhere.

Mr. Rittenhouse worked as a charter pilot, weather modification pilot for Coors, and barley field man for Coors Brewing Co., until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of Riverton; daughters, June Rittenhouse-San Miguel of Leander, Texas, Yolanda Randall of Riverton, Yvonne Snider Riverton, and Yvette Paul of Sturgis, S.D.; sister, Betty Kerpan of Lake Placid, Fla.; grandchildren, Payton and Jacob Rittenhouse and Vincent San Miguel, Brandi and Andrea Snider, Kyla and Kaylie Randall, John, Cody and Breanna Paul; great grandchildren, Ryon and Emma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
