To Petie's family:

I spent 10 years serving with Petie at St. Stephens' Indian Mission in Wyoming. Those were times of great change in the school and the Mission. We had great community on the campus with religious sisters and dedicated lay people who were so committed to the mission of education and service to the Arapaho and Shoshone people. Petie, as secretary to the Mission had her eye on all things 'coming and going'. She was efficient, helpful, kind and purposeful in all the myriad of 'jobs' she undertook during her tenure.
I especially appreciated her great loyalty to the Jesuits and the Franciscan sisters who were there for so many years. She served all them with respect and professionalism. She also welcomed us IHM sisters who came from Monroe, Michigan to support the Mission through education.

I have fond memories of the great parties and gatherings of the mission personnel. We were as they say, "one great happy family". For many years, even after I left, her husband Rollie and I bet a quarter on each of the college bowl games. We pretty much came out even. One time he sent me my 'winnings' all in pennies and it was lot!

I give thanks for Petie's life and dedication to the Church and St. Stephens Mission. I remember especially her daughter Daria who became a teacher. I will keep Petie and the Brown family in my prayers and Masses. Lovingly, Sister Joyce Durosko, IHM
