I had Mrs Willis for a middle school reading teacher and she absolutely touched my heart. I'm so sorry to hear of her loss. My heart goes out to the family and may she rest peacefully ??

The news of Mrs. Willis’ passing breaks my heart. She was an extraordinary educator with such an amazing spirit. I credit her for my love of writing, and I’m so greatful for the wonderful things she taught me as her pupil. My deepest condolences go out to the entire Willis family as well as the many people she touched during her life. I’m glad that I was able to see her a few months back, and I will forever cherish our last encounter. She will be admired and missed for years to come.

So many thoughts and so many memories. Phillis once said, "what is that song you are singing." It was Smile by Charlie Chaplin. Smile tho your heart is aching, Smile even tho it's breaking, When there are clouds in the sky.and so the song goes on. Phillis was a great friend and mentor. This is a very fitting quote for Mrs. Willis. She was an extraordinary teacher and she had a profound impact on my life. As an art teacher she gave me confidence. As an English teacher she ignited my passion for reading and writing. She was kind and compassionate and incredibly patient. I am truly thankful to have known her.

Phillis was my “sista from another mother”, a wonderful woman whom I had the pleasure to enjoy as both a teacher and then later on as a co-worker. To the Family,
I would like to express how sorry to hear of your loss. It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love. And when it happens, the thought of never again being able to talk to, laugh with, or hold your loved one can be most difficult to bear. That pain is not necessarily erased by being told that your loved one is up in heaven.
I found what God promises in the Bible helpful. At Acts 24:15 it says “And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead.”
This promise has consoled me when my father died. Hopefully, it can provide some hope and comfort to your family.
