|Guy Faris, 66, of Pavillion, WY died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Sage West Hospital in Lander, WY. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Allen Guy Faris was born February 28, 1951 in Cheyenne, WY to Johnnie E. and Louise “Cookie” (Kroll) Faris.
Guy began his education in a one room school house at the Blanchard School near Bufford, Wyoming.
On February 14, 2017, Guy married Janet Winfield Mendes in Elko, NV.
He worked at a power plant in Wheatland for around 20 years but was a rancher for the majority of his life. Guy lived in Wheatland, Rock River and Chugwater, and has spent the past 5 years in Pavillion.
Guy spent his entire life around horses and earned the state championship bronc riding and was 3rd in the World Senior Pro a couple of different times. He also enjoyed pack trips, fishing, loved camping, singing and playing his guitar. He and Janet recently took the trip of a lifetime to the Swiss Alps. Guy was known to be a very giving person, supporting many different charities, especially children’s charities, and always had a helping hand ready for those in need. He was a devout Christian man and admired Billy Graham.
Survivors include his wife, Janet of Riverton; daughters, Shonda and her husband, Tyler Boyd and their children Briston, Preston, Easton and Joston of Wheatland, Stacy Faris and her children Taft and Parker Allen of Hermosa, SD; brothers, Albert “Jock” Faris and his wife, Betty of Rock River, Dr. George Faris and his wife, Cheri of Wheatland, WY and Grady Faris and his wife, Janice of Wheatland; sisters, Sylvia and her husband, Robert Parvin of Rock River and April and her husband, Scott Sims of McFadden; numerous nieces and nephews; Janet’s children; Cheri Gonzales and companion Cliff Rodgers and their children Darian, Tatum and Avery; Rick Mendes and wife, Janelle and their children Garrett, Clark, and Samantha; mother-in-law Lennie Winfield; brother-in-law, Brian Winfield; sisters-in-law, Nancy Eppler, Linda Saunders and companion Dailen Jones, Debi Walters and husband Dave, Darlene Raymond and husband Robert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Iris Faris and his father-in-law, Darrell Winfield.
