Mr. Lincey Lee Shongutsie, Sr. passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, surrounded by family at Banner Health Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Lincey was born on February 21, 1973, born to Anita Shongutsie, Fort Washakie, Wyoming. He was given the Shoshone name of Whuutu huuku (Two Eagle Whistles).  LIncey was born to Anita Shongutsie, but was raised by his late grandmother Susie Shongutsie with help from his late uncle Franklin Shongutsie.

He attended grade school and junior high school at the Fort Washakie School and graduated from Lander Valley High School in Lander, Wyoming.

He married Leann SittingEagle and later divorced, they brought into this world a son they named Lincey Lee Shongutsie,Jr. He would later re-connected with his current companion, Marlo Tissidimit who was Miss Sho-Ban at the time they first met.

For a short time Lincey, Sr. was employed at the Shoshone Tribal Service Station and the 477 Program as a Custodian/Transporter for a few years.  Following his divorce, he moved to Ft. Hall, ID where he worked as a housekeeper at the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel until his health started to decline and became a dialysis patient.

In his younger years he traveled extensively playing handgame/stickgame throughout the western United States and once to Hobbema, Alberta, Canada. He continued to travel even when the distance became limited due to his health playing the game he loved.  His last trip was to Ft. Duchesne, UT for the 4th of July weekend where he honored his late-grandfather Kenneth Pevo, Sr. in singing for him, also he and his daughter placed 2nd place in the tournament. He wanted to travel until he could no longer travel, his brother, George would take him where he wanted to go so he could enjoy what time he had left.

He was a Sundancer participating in the Sundance Ceremony locally and Idaho.  In his later years, he fulfilled the vow of his grandfather, Lindberg Shongutsie, who passed away before he could complete his vow. Lincey, Sr. became a ceremonial Sundance leader fulfilling his late grandfather’s vow. When his health no longer allowed him to participate, he would travel to Sundances in Idaho and Utah as well as locally to support his Sundance brothers and sisters who were participating. He shared his sundance knowledge with newcomers when they were struggling within the lodge.
