Karen Ellison

Karen Ellison, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Born on October 1, 1936, in Billings, Montana, she was the youngest of four children of Evelyn Kuhlman and James Lanier.
On March 26, 1955, Karen married the love of her life, Vernon Ellison, and together they raised three children. Family was always at the heart of her world, and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Karen will be remembered as an amazing woman whose kindness, gentleness, and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her. She had a heart that gave endlessly and a presence that made others feel valued, cared for, and deeply loved.
She is survived by her daughter Carla Apodaca; son in law Ray Apodaca; and her son Vernon Ellison Jr. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Michael Ellison, Ryan Apodaca (His wife Kelsey Apodaca), and Jena Apodaca Spriggs (Her husband Justice Spriggs); seven great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Apodaca-Ladd (Her fiancé Jaydan Ladd), Dahlia Apodaca, Johnrio Nation, Farrah Nation, Blake Spriggs, Warren Spriggs, and Waylon Spriggs; and one great-great-grandson, Hudson Ladd.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern Ellison, Sr.; one brother and two sisters; her daughter, Barbara Ellison; and her grandsons, Brooks Apodaca and Tyler Apodaca.
No public services will be held. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Karen’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on through all who had the privilege of knowing her.
