Edward E. Large, 73, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. In keeping with his wishes, no formal services will be held.
Edward was born on August 7, 1952, in Pasco, Washington, the son of Rueben A. and Alvina (Compton) Large. He grew up in Riverton, where he attended local schools before furthering his education at Central Wyoming College.
On August 9, 1986, he married Denise M. Johnson in Riverton, and together they built their life there.
Ed’s career included working as a security guard at the Wyoming Honor Farm for four years before joining the oil rigs during the boom years. After a work-related injury, he transitioned to maintenance at the Wind River Casino, where he remained until his retirement at the age of 62.
He was a man who loved the outdoors. Ed’s favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring with his metal detector. He had a deep affection for animals and took joy in caring for them. Ed was a proud enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and valued his time spent attending the Sundance.
Survivors include his loving wife, Denise Large; son, Edward E. Large, II and his wife, Xiaofan Niu and their two children, Ariana and Juliana; daughter, Sarah McClellan and her significant other, Jackson Lucas and their children, Mason, Braeden, Zane and Amaya; sister, Debbie Reilly.
Mr. Large was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Compton, Rueben Large and Dale Large; sisters, Cleo Beckman, Nora Peterson, Virginia Large, Cathy Leyva, and Chery Large.
