Garth W. Brown of Riverton died on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at the Hospice Home in Riverton. He was 84.

Cremation has taken place and military honors will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton at 10am on Oct. 10,2011.

Garth W. Brown was born in Trenton, Utah, on July 27, 1927, the son of Theron Alexander Brown and Blanche (Simmonds) Brown.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Florence Fabrizius on Sept 22, 1955, in Elko, Nev.

Mr. Brown was a master mechanic in the construction industry, traveling the world in his working years including Hawaii, Guam, Jamaica, Ghana, Africa, along the West Coast, and retired in Riverton after working in the Gas Hills for Union Carbide and Federal American Partners. In his retirement he worked in Mustang Music.

His family said Mr. Brown enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and was an avid reader.

He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in California and the Shrine in Hawaii.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Florence; sons, Don Brown and his wife Marlene and Garth Brown; a daughter,Jeri Whitaker and companion Elzie; six grandsons, one granddaughter, and five great grandchildren; a brother, Norris Charles Brown and his wife Shirley, Alan Brown and his wife Mary Kaye, and Boyd O. Brown and his wife Jeannette; sister, Judy Kay Dixon and her husband Richard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Larry S. Brown.
