A Masonic and Veteran of World War II graveside service for Sid Humphreys is at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Lakeside Cemetery at Shoshoni,
Mr. Humphreys died at home in Casper on Thursday morning, Oct. 20, 2011. He was 91.
Sidney A. Humphreys was born to Thomas S. and Mae Humphreys in Sioux City, Iowa on Nov. 26, 1919. He grew up on the ranch on Copper Mountain. He was graduated from Shoshoni High School and Billings Business School.
Mr. Humphreys served as a First Lieutenant with the United States Army in the Japanese Theater during World War II.
He married Ruth Rivers on July 10, 1943 in Little Rock, Ark. Together they owned and operated the historic Gambles General Store in Shoshoni for 32 years, from 1947-1979.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his parents, a son Jeffery, and a granddaughter Brenda McVean.
Survivors include sons Bart Humphreys and wife Debbie of Casper, and Thad Humphreys and wife Shadra of Shoshoni; daughter Susan Cramer of Cheyenne; grandchildren Daniel Humphreys of Shoshoni, Michael Humphreys of Riverton, Chinene Petty of Shoshoni, Tanya and Eddie Lillak of Cheyenne; 5 great grandchildren.
