Lawrence C. “L.C.” Carter, 87, of Morristown, Arizona formerly, of Riverton, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at his home. Graveside memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2007 at Mountain View Cemetery. Masonic rites will be performed by Masonic Lodge #26 A.F. & A.M. The Wyoming Army National Guard will provide military honors.

Lawrence Clyde Carter was born October 9, 1919 in Cliff Lake, Montana to Clyde K. Carter and Ora (Young) Carter. He moved to Dubois then to Riverton as a young boy. He graduated Riverton High School.

Mr. Carter was a rancher and involved in the Dubois Grazing Association. He also worked as a part time mechanic.

Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of sergeant, from 1942 -1944 serving in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign, receiving the Good Conduct Medal.

He married Genevieve Fountain in 1979. They later divorced but remained life long friends.

His family said he enjoyed spending time with his family, loved to work with rocks, especially jade and making jewelry. He had been a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Riverton and the Masonic Lodge #26 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by his former wife Genevieve Carter of Riverton; son Byron Boyd Jenkins of Greeley, CO; daughters, Alice McCarty and husband David of Alliance, NE, Mary Morris of Riverton; two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Juanita.

Memorial may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
