Larry O. Reed, 69, of Riverton died Friday, July 27, 2012 at his home.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place and private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
Larry Orvil Reed was born February 21, 1943 in Hotchkiss, Colorado to Joseph and Leora Glenrose (Pitt) Reed. He grew up in Lander and attended Lander schools. He graduated from Big Sky Barber and Cosmetology College in Billings graduating Valedictorian of his class as Master Barber and Stylist.
Mr. Reed served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam being stationed in Guadalajara and Cuba. He was Honorably discharged as Lance Corporal.
He married Delylah Adams and had four children to that union. They later divorced.
He married Sandra Lee Valley on June 1, 1994 at the Taft Ranch south of Lander.
His family said he loved his family enjoyed fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. He had also been active in the 1838 Rendezvous Mountain Man Association.
He worked as a Barber in Lander and Dutch Harbor Alaska owning “Larry’s Barber Shop” in Lander. He also worked in Bethel Alaska 25 miles from the North Pole managing the local grocery store. He had also moved around the country doing pipeline and fiber optic installation, was a deli manager, and worked with his family for Nu-Way Catering in Lander.
He is survived by his wife Sandy; two sons, Shane and Vance Reed of Riverton; two daughters, Rebecca Reed of Riverton and Deanna Dupea and husband David of Billings; Grandchildren, Justin Reed, Gina Reed, Ashley Reed, Jennifer Reed, Elizabeth Reed, Vance Sebastian Reed, Christian Lawrence Reed, Megan Reed, and Josh Dupea; three great grandchildren, Kiana, Asher, and Cooper Reed.; and brother, Harry Reed and wife Shirley of Lander.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Reed and Leora Hagerman; two sisters, Joanne Colter and Barbara Ellen Girten.
Memorials may be made to the Help for Health Hospice in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
