Garrett Dee “Gary” Green, 64, died Monday, October 15, 2012 in Lander, WY. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Casper.
There will be an Irish Wake held at his brother’s home, 525 Roberts Road, Lander, Wyoming Wednesday, October 24 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Gary was born December 23, 1947, in Riverton, Wyoming, son of George and Ruth (Nelson) Green.
Gary grew up and attended schools throughout Fremont County, including Riverton, Lander, Dubois, and Jeffrey City. After he graduated High School, Gary joined the United States Army serving during Vietnam. He was stationed in Germany and Holland and served for 8 years.
He later worked for Western Nuclear doing electric work and as a security guard for Sinclair Refinery. He also worked as a maintenance engineer for the Holiday Inn and cooked for the Flying J. and Denny’s all over Wyoming.
Gary enjoyed having coffee with his friends and mostly family. He liked working and collecting guns and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting. Gary also liked to watch movies, being an avid fan of John Wayne and enjoyed playing on his computer.
Mr. Green was a non-denominational ordained minister of the Christian faith.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Valorie Green of Casper; mother, Ruth Putnam of Lander; 2 brothers, Alan Putnam and his companion, Brandy Alexander of Lander and Danny Green and his wife Sue of Lander; 4 sisters, Lorie Jessup of Casper, Bridget Block of Green River, Shannon Stanford of Longview, TX and Betsy Green of Seattle, WA.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Patricia Hall and Farris Ann Wiesiolek.
