Donna LaVonne Corbett of Riverton passed from this world on Nov. 23, at her home. She lived such a wonderful and full life, we miss you too much already. Donna was born Sept 13th, 1930 to Stephen Edward and Alice Eliza Gage in Iowa City, Iowa. She was raised in Calamus and graduated high school in 1947. During a holiday in 1951, Donna was in San Diego where she was to meet her future husband while he was in boot camp in San Diego, Ca. Donna married James Hamilton Corbett on April 6th, 1952 in Calamus, Iowa. Jim’s career in the Air Force took the family to Colorado, Alaska, Texas and South Dakota. She was an adventurer throughout her life, and adding to that adventure was having 4 children, David, Susan, Peggy and Nancy. After raising their children and retiring in Rapid City, their kids getting married off …David to Rhonda Corbett, Susan to Rex Whitman, Peggy to Hemo Walters and finally, Nancy to Mike Williams, all of which have been married 25 years or longer. Sadly, after 51 years of marriage, Jim died on August 6th, 2003. Donna stayed at the family Ranch for several years until deciding to move to Riverton. Having settled in town, Donna wasted no time in getting involved with volunteering to better the lives of Rivertonians. One of her great loves was reading and even as macular degeneration was taking hold, she still managed to volunteer at the Fremont County Library. She was the Unsung Hero of 2010. Carrying on the memory of Donna is of course, all of her children, but also 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 5 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way. Also is her beloved brother Ron and Helena Gage of Yuma, Az., as well as many nieces and nephews and many very good friends. Donna had mentioned that if memorials were to be placed, that it should be with HELP for HEALTH HOSPICE, in care of the First Baptist Church, 840 N. 1st St. Riverton Wy. Memorial services will be held at 10am, November 26th, at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton.
