Jamie Maria Jeanette Bell (Jamie Gurl) was born on March 24, 1987 in Riverton, Wyoming to Benita Louise Oldman and the late James Gordon Bell. She was adopted and raised by her father Darrel James Smith Sr. She was of the catholic faith, made her first holy communion and confirmation at St. Stephens with the Bishop and was also an active member of her Native ways.
Jamie lived and grew up in the Johnstown area in Kinnear, Wyoming where she attended home-base with the Shoshone and Arapaho head start program. She attended K-12 at the Wind River Schools. She graduated with the Class of 2005. She received her state board license for C NA in 2007 and was currently taking classes online at CWC to become an RN. During her high school years she participated in basketball and volleyball. In 8th grade she was voted MVP for volleyball and in high school she was part of the team that became Regional Champs for volleyball as well. In 2004, she was on the basketball team of the Fremont County Shoot out champions. In 2006, she was state finalist for the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA state pageant of Wyoming as Ms. Riverton. In 2007, she went to Denver on a modeling assignment accompanied by her uncle the late Eddie Wadda. She worked at Morning Star Manor as a Certifed Nurses Aide for 5 years and recently became supervisor over the CNAs
She enjoyed spending her free time her son Tristan James and her neices and nephews who she took as her own. She liked socializing with her sisters Terri, Jerri, Valene and Maria. She also enjoyed playing at the casino and spending time with family and friends. She liked to go hunting with her father Darrel Sr and brother Darrell Jr. She also enjoyed playing dress up with her niece Kyrynn and taking pictures. She loved to dance anywhere, any place, anytime. She liked to wrestle around with her twin brothers Michael and Matthew Smith as well as bossing around her little sister Claudia Jenkins and brothers Thomas Surrell and Coleman Stanger. She also loved and cared a lot for her companion JD whom she spent most of her time with him and their son.
While growing up she helped raised two of her nephews whom she took as her sons Aaron Marcus Oldman and Alex Smith. She also enjoyed her time visiting and working with her co-workers at Morning Star Manor. She also loved to sit around with her sister Cetta and joke around with their mother. She was greatly influenced by her older sister Terri to keep striving for more in life. Everyone that knew and shared time with Jamie enjoyed her laughter, smile and beauty.

Services will begin on Tuesday, November 27th at 7:00 pm at Blue Sky Hall at Ethete. Second rosary at 7:00pm on Wednesday November 28 at St. Stephens, a wake will follow at the residence of Darrel and Benita Smith at 185 Johnstown Valley Road, Kinnear, Wyoming. Funeral services will begin at 10am on Thursday Novermber 29th at St. Stephens Catholic Church with interment to follow at Arapaho Catholic cemetery.
