Tommie Lee Romero of Gillette, WY died Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette. He was 53 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, with Catholic clergy officiating. Interment will follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Davis Funeral Home.
Tommie Lee Romero was born in Riverton on May 23, 1959, the son of Joe Dan Romero and Mary L. (Duran) Romero. He grew up in Riverton and was graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1977.
He moved to Utah and California, operating heavy equipment in the mining industry, then to Rock Springs, and had been in Gillette for seven years. He was employed by the Cordero Rojo Mine.
Mr. Romero was baptized as a Catholic.
He enjoyed reading books, watching sports, exercising, running, seeing and taking care of family. His family said he had a large number of friends in the AA chapter in Gillette.
Among his survivors are his parents, Mary and Jack Herrera; a brother, Danny Romero, and his children Juliet, Jacque and Rachel; sisters, Joann White and her children Brandon and Amanda, and Elvera Martensen and her daughter Janessa, to whom he was very close; and the members of the Whiteplume, Duran, Hanway, Roman, Vigil, Medina, Crispin, Armajo and Ortiz families.
Mr. Romero was preceded in death by his father, Joe Dan Romero; and his fiancé Cindy Pickerington.
