Patrick Luke “Big Pat” Chavez of Arapahoe died at Riverton Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He was 37 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with Catholic clergy officiating. Interment will follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.
Rosaries will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home, and 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, with a wake to follow at 14 Redcrow, Arapahoe.
Patrick Luke Chavez was born July 11, 1975 in Riverton, to Alfred Bruce Chavez and Wilhelmina Spoonhunter. He lived in Arapahoe his entire life and attended school at Wyoming Indian Elementary, Chemawa Indian School and was graduated from St. Stephens High School.
He was of the Catholic faith, and subscribed to Native American ways.
Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family, playing chess and pool, cruising, listening to music, hanging out with his cousins and friends. He also enjoyed watching Chiefs basketball games, was a big Bronco fan, and loved to fish.
Survivors include his daughter, Quelenna Chavez; mother, Wilhelmina Spoonhunter; step-father, Darrell Hanway, Sr.; grandparents, Joe and Lilian Chavez; brothers, Joshua Hanway, William Hanway, Sr., and Alynn Chavez; sisters, Pamela Chavez, Pauline Chavez, Mary Hanway and Marie Jaramillo; aunts and uncles, Bill Sr. and Jean Watt, Karen Brown, Angela Hanway, Dawn Michelle Spoonhunter, Iris Oldman, Arlene Trosper, Myra Watt, Kathy Chavez, Jerry and Liz Smith, Mary Jean Day, Clarence Chavez, Marty Chavez, Keith Chavez, Donnie Chavez, Isaac Chavez, Georgia Gneiting, Juanita Stamp; Chavez, Spoonhunter and Hanway families.
He was preceded in death by a son, Carlos Goodman; father, Alfred Bruce Chavez; brother, Darrell Hanway, Jr., nephew, Darrell Joshua Hanway; Irene Warren, Anita Spoonhunter, Roy Spoonhunter, Sr., William Spoonhunter, Sr., Vera Trosper, Pauline Kniffin, Matthew Watt, Gregory Trosper; grandparents, William and Elma Spoonhunter, Jimmy and Wilena Chavez.
