Albert Lewie Kelsey was born on August 18, 1922 in Daniel, WY to Earl Francis and Myrtle (Smith) Kelsey. Al was one of six children, four boys and two girls.

He served in the US Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class.

On June 19, 1946 he married his wife of 65 years, Kathryn “Lucille” McGraugh, in Casper, WY. After their marriage, they were in the livestock business with Lucille’s dad on the family ranch in Bates Hole. In 1957 they moved to Dubois where they acquired a trailer court, which they fixed up and ran. While running the trailer court, Al worked for Norm Clark skidding timber, later going into business with him. A few years later Al and Lucille bought the Coast-to-Coast store in Dubois, which they ran for five years. The entire time Al was in Dubois, he had his own backhoe and construction company. As his family said, he loved to work. After selling their business in Dubois, the couple moved to Riverton where he worked for Strube Construction and Brasil and Sims where he retired. The couple stayed in Riverton and made it their home until his passing.

His family said beside work, he enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, riding horses, and working cattle were among his favorite things. He loved doing things with his family most of all.

His family said that he was deeply religious man in his heart. He did not go to church often but felt very close to the “Good Lord” and prayed every morning for his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn “Lucille” Kelsey, his sons, Ed (Oscar) Kelsey and his wife, Donna, and Colin (Bud) Kelsey and his wife, Betty, one sister, June DeWitt, and ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, his daughter, Peggy Marie Kelsey, brother-in-law, Bill DeWitt, and two grandsons.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home. On-line condolences for the family may be made at www.TheDavisFuneralHome.com.
