Gene W Sauer, 89, of Riverton died on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Help for Health Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 11:00 am at Davis Funeral Home, a viewing will be held before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Pastor Robin Stupka will be officiating. Internment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Gene W Sauer was born on April 6, 1924 in Bayard, NE to Henry and Mary (Wagner) Sauer. When he was 9 years old the family moved to Riverton, where he lived for the next 80 years.

In December of 1942 he married the love of his life, Audrey Alyce Gifford in Riverton.

He worked on the family farm west of Riverton when he was a young man. He then worked for Brecken Construction for 18 years before opening his own business, Custom Cabinets and Millwork in the 1970’s. He retired in 1994. He kept busy by being involved with the Elks Club, where he was a member for 40 plus years, and the Riverton Country Club for 43 years.

His family said he loved to go skiing, golfing and bowling. Above all he took great joy in spending time with his daughter, granddaughter and great grand children.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice K. Sauer-Gordon of Riverton; his granddaughter, Dalerae Gordon-Klein and her husband, Mark of Colorado Springs, and their children, Taylor Klein, Tucker Klein, and Tanner Klein; his brothers, Bill Sauer, Bob Sauer, Paul Sauer and Kenneth Sauer; and his sisters, Alma Sauer-Woodard, Renie Bunner, and Mary Sauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary; his wife, Audrey; his daughter, Mary Sauer; and his brothers, Harold Sauer and Ernie Sauer.

Memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice or Help for Health Hospice Home in care of Davis Funeral Home.
