Growing up Gerald attended school in Wheatland, Douglas, Casper, and Dubois, WY. He graduated high school in 1948 from Dubois High School. On August 27, 1949 he married the love of his life, Nova Alice Leseberg, at the Episcopal Church in Dubois, WY by Coach Wilson. They were married 63 wonderful years. In their years together they raised three beautiful children, B.C., Geralynn, and Jim. They were his pride and joy. They lived in several Wyoming towns throughout their life together including Rawlins, Lander, Casper, Cody and Gardner, Montana.
Gerald was a very family oriented man. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren either on the family ranch or following them to one sporting event or another. He was an avid sportsman. He loved hunting and the stories that followed. He enjoyed fishing in the lakes above Dubois as well as camping in the mountains. In his younger days he participated in local rodeos and wild horse races, which increased his love for local rodeos, especially bareback riding, in his later years. His love for animals, especially dogs, is something he will always be remembered for. Gerald also enjoyed the occasional trips to the casino's where he was always lucky with the slot machines. He also enjoyed a yearly family trip to Mesquite, NV where he spent all of his time pulling handles. The one thing he will be remembered for the most is his love for dancing. He loved to dance with his wife Alice and anyone who would take his hand. He was a true cowboy. Gerald was also a member of the Church of Christ in Dubois.
Throughout Gerald's life he worked in many places within the state. He worked for Lawrence Williamson at the standard Gas Station as well as Shorty Meckam for the local gas station. He worked for Norman Clark and Glavis Reed in the logging business. He also worked for the telephone company installing dial phones in Yellowstone National Park. He received an award for being the only employee to have no errors in installing the phones. Gerald also spent some time working in the oil field as a roughneck. Gerald retired from the Fremont County Road Department in 1985 and resided in Dubois with his wife Alice.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nova Alice Hart. His children B.C. and his wife Sally of Dubois, WY, Geralynn and her husband Mike of Belgrade, MT, and Jim and his wife Donna of Lander, WY.
