Marieta “Rita” Brown, 50, of Lander died on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. A rosary will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Eagle Hall at St. Stephens, wake will follow. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Father Phil Wagner will officiate. Burial will follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.
Marieta Joan Brown was born on March 3, 1963 in Riverton, WY to Edward Wesley and Nora (Norse) Brown. She lived in different towns through out Wyoming, Nebraska, and Colorado.
She did janitorial and maid work before becoming disabled 12 years ago.
She was of the Catholic faith having been baptized and confirmed.
Her family said that she loved being with her grandkids, friends, and her family. She also enjoyed gambling and over all socializing.
She is survived by her son, Dustin Maldonado; her daughter, Belem Montoya; her brothers, Edward Brown and Lynn Brown; her sisters, Amelia Brown, Eleanor Maldonado, and Lorelei Sanchez; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nora; her foster parents, Jose and Madelina Montoya; her brother, Hiram Brown; her sister, Judith Brown; and her niece, Brenda Maldonado.
