Thomas Oliver Younge died peacefully in his home on October 11, 2013. He was 85 years old.
Tom as born to Ditmus Grant Younge and Laura (Sutherland) Younge on May 26, 1928 in Goodland Township, Michigan. Mr. Younge was inducted into the United States Armed Services on November 7, 1950. He served with the 1st Division of the United States Army during the Korean conflict in post WWII Germany. He was honorably discharged on April 9, 1957.
He married Ella Mae Scott on November 10, 1956 at the North Goodland Church in Brown City, MI. There were three children born of the marriage - Thomas Grant, Lori Lee and Candis Lynn. Tom & Ella Mae raised their children in Brown City, Michigan, where Tom volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, coached Little League and enjoyed many sporting events with his Son. From childhood, Tom was a dedicated hunter and fisherman. Mr. Younge worked for General Motors for 31 years and retired in 1983. Shortly after his retirement, Tom & Ella Mae moved to Dubois, WY. They spent the next 29 years together in Dubois, enjoying their children and grandchildren. Thomas O. Younge was a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan, Brown City Lodge #409 and was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ William Sutter Post #2943 in Brown City, MI. Tom also belonged to the NRA.
Having grown up during the great depression, Tom was a proud yet simple man, who appreciated more than most. He was a “believing” Christian, who will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ella Mae Younge, his Mother and Father and two Brothers, Bob and Guy Younge. He is survived by his Son, Thomas Grant Younge of Dubois, WY, Daughters Lori Lee Ebersberger of Powell, WY and Candis Whitlock-Bennett and husband Jody of Dubois, WY. Grandchildren Tanner Thomas Whitlock of Bozeman, MT, Lacey Mae Ebersberger of Laramie, WY and Jenni Lee Ebersberger of Powell, WY. He is also survived by his Brother Joe Younge and wife Gail of Imlay City, MI, Brother Marlin Younge and Wife Lila of Lapeer, MI, Sister Beverly (Younge) Gallagher and husband Jim of West Branch, MI, Sister-in-Law Iris (Younge) Thayer of Battle Creek, MI, and Sisters-in-law Janet Benedict and Husband Dick of Sandusky, MI and Jeanie Ware of Lum, MI, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Tom’s wishes, there will be no services and cremation will take place through Davis Funeral Home in Riverton, WY. Donations may be made to the National Rifle Association in his honor.
