John Jacoby

Apr 30, 1933 - Oct 20, 2013
John Michael Jacoby, 80, died peacefully on October 20, 2013, at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander, Wyoming where he has had excellent care. John had been a resident there since 2005, due to health issues.

John was born in Marshall, Missouri on April 30, 1933, to his parents, Jacob L. and Maretta (Turner) Jacoby.

John grew up in Marshall, went to high school there, attended college, and was a member of the Missouri National Guard in the 50’s.

John moved to Wyoming in the late 50’s working at various jobs in the uranium and oil industries. John met his wife, Louise (McIrvin) and were married November 9, 1969. They lived in Dubois where they owned and operated the Twin Pines Motel and both were involved with the Wyoming Travel Commission. They then moved back to Riverton, where they operated the Paint Brush Motel until retirement. John was also a life-member of the “Elks.”

John loved to visit just about anything, especially if it involved government, politics, economic issues or religion. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke or two to tell.

John had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, and actually looked forward to moving on to be with Jesus.

John lost his wife, Louise this past January to Alzheimer’s, and he had continued to decline in health.

Survivors include his step-daughters, Judy Eckley (Jack) of Cody, Margaret Weideman of Riverton and 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Maretta Jacoby, sister, Jackie, and his wife, Louise.

John specifically asked for cremation and no service, and his request will be honored.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
