A memorial service for David Shook, 75, will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor David Magruder officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Friday- Truan Detachment #683 Marine Corp League and Veterans.

He died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at his home in Riverton, WY.

Montelle David Shook was born November 1, 1938, in Champagne, Illinois, son of Montelle Lewis and Anna Elizabeth (Van Meter) Shook.

He graduated from Atwood High School in Atwood, Illinois in 1956. He then served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963 when he was Honorably Discharged.

David moved his family to Pavillion in 1974, to work at the Lucky Mack Mine as a heavy equipment operator. In 1985, he began working at the Barrick Gold Strike Mine in Carlin, NV and retired from there in 2003. David, along with his new bride, Ethel, moved back to Riverton in 2005 to spend their retirement.

On September 25, 2005, David married Ethel Stoneback in Riverton, WY.

David enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, riding ATV’s, camping and just spending time outdoors.

He was a life member of the NRA and also a member of the Gun Owners of America.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel of Riverton; sons, Parrish Shook of Casper and Toby Shook of Riverton; daughters, Shaunna Buster of Carlin, NV and Lisa (Joe) Sarr of Firestone, CO; 3 grandchildren, Tyler Buster, Joe Sarr and Amy Ferrera; 2 great grandchildren, Mathew and Maria Ferrera; sister, Betty Perkins of Arkansas; and his first wife, Joan Martin of Tolono, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Tina Purcell.
