Ronald “Ron” Monroe, Sr., 32 of Arapahoe died at his home on Friday, January 17, 2014. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Great Plains Hall followed by a wake at Wesley Monroe’s home at 1501 Elmwood. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 10:00 am at Blue Sky Hall. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Mission.

Ronald James Ybarra Monroe, Sr. was born on May 20, 1981 in Riverton, WY to Leo W Ida (Ybarra) Monroe. He was raised on the Wind River Reservation. He lived between Arapahoe and Birney, MT.

Since he was 17 years old he had worked in the oilfield. He carried a CDL license along with numerous other certifications. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for High Country, Earth Works, and Natco. He was also worked security for the Wind River Casino.

His family said that he enjoyed basketball, boxing, volleyball, hunting and fishing. He was a Pow Wow traditional dancer and attended many Pow Wow’s.

He is survived by his companion, Bethany Washington; his sons, Anthony Tate, Ronnie Jr., Tristin Sky, Clifton Morning Star, Ashton Aenohose (Little Hawk), Leo Weston, Aynjle Haze, and Taevon Adriano James; his daughter, Preshious Faunne; special friend, Sharon Chargingcrow; his father in law, Isaac Washington, Sr.; adopted parents, Elsie and Jude Chargingcrow; his brothers, Wesley (Ginger) Monroe and family, Christopher (Andrea) Monroe and family, Marcus (Shaelynn) Yellowhair, Levi ( Miranda) Monroe, Sr. and family, and Alfred Monroe and family; his sisters, Rowena Elliott and family, Beatrice (Isaac) Monroe and family, Trishanna (Patrick) Sunrhodes and family, Charlene (Louis) Monroe and family, Erin Duran and family, Camelia (Lynden) Monroe and family, Dela Ybarra and family, Carrie Benson and family, Lynette “Sissy” O’Neal and family and Samantha Friday; his aunts, Leona Buckman and family, Alvina Buckman and family, Alva (Clayton) Buckman and family, Georgetta Buckman and family, Beatrice Buckman and family, Darlene Brown and family, Katherine Trumbull and family, Carol Trumbull and family, Judy Duran and family, Delores Shoulderblade and family, Reva Tillman and family, Mary Fightingbear and family, Jenny Shoulderblade and family, Pearl Monroe and family, and Pauline Oldman and family; his uncles, Fredrick Monroe Sr. and family, Alvin Brown and family, Shannon Brownand and family, Dale Brown and family, Clarence Brown and family, Leo Willow and family, Delmer Duran Sr. and family, Michael Duran and family, Claud Duran and family, Kenneth Redfield and family, Chuck Redfield and family, Don Shoulderblade and family, Daniel Oldman and family and Melvin Brown Jr. and family; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leo H Monroe and Mary Eliza (Shoulderblade) Monroe; his maternal grandparents, Jesus Ybarra and Helen Oldman Bear; his mother in law, Viola Washington, and numerous relatives.
