Leonard C. Gaines, 39, of Lander passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 unexpectedly of natural causes.
A viewing will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. A Celebration of Leonard’s Life will be Thursday, March 27, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 1320 Sinks Canyon Road in Lander.
Leonard Clint Gaines was born July 12, 1974 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Howard Frank and Nina Bernice Gaines. He graduated Ponderosa High School in Franktown, Colorado and graduated from Missouri Southern State University of Joplin, Missouri with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. He has lived the last five years in Lander.
He was an instructor and trainer for the Wyoming Department of Corrections in many fields and was active in establishing an office in Dubois, Wyoming.
His family said he loved to hike and rock climb in the Lander area especially enjoying Sinks Canyon and the Wind River Mountain Range.
His survivors include his Fiancé, Whitney Sheller of Lander; children, Dante, Brayden, Naomi, and Natalie all of Lander; his parents, Howard and Bernice Gaines of Neosho, Missouri; sisters, Michelle M. Gaines of Austin, Texas and Anita Cheryl Bundy of Springfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth Zweifel, H.F. Gaines, and Marie Gaines.
Memorials may be made to the National Outdoor Leadership School in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
