Verle Dean Meeks 76, of Lander, passed away on July 20, 2014 at Sage West Healthcare.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, July 24 at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton with Rev. Ray Price officiating the service. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Viewing will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday also at Davis Funeral Home.
Verle was born May 27, 1938 to Marion Robert and Isabell (Calhoun) Meeks in Fort Washakie, Wyoming.
He attended college at CWC and Casper College where he received a degree in Hydraulic Mechanics.
He ranched all of his life near Crowheart and also Boulder Flats in Fremont County until retiring 10 years ago and he also guided for several hunting camps over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping, branding, and gambling at the casinos. Verle is survived by his son Cullen T. Meeks and his wife Missy of Sinclair, Wy; grandchildren, Randon Meeks and Afton Koontz; great granddaughter, Kamdyn Koontz; sisters, Wyoma Freese and Marion Lucille Henry both of Lander.
He is preceded in death by his son Verle Dean Meeks Jr.; 3 brothers, Lavare Meeks, Irvin Meeks and Sidney Bush and his parents. Memorials would be appreciated to the donor’s choice.
