Karen L. Buckingham, 63 of Riverton, died on Monday, January 12, 2015, at her home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Davis Funeral Home at 10:00 am with Reverend Bob Connelly officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Karen Lynn Skidmore was born on June 26, 1952 in Irondale, OH to Merle Lincoln and Pearl Elenore (Leasure) Skidmore. She was one of three children and the only girl. In 1962, the family moved to Gas Hills, WY from Ohio. She attended grade school in Gas Hills and went to Riverton High School, graduating with the class of 1970. She earned her Associate of Science Degree from Central Wyoming College.
Karen was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
On February 18, 1974, she married Ronald Mike Buckingham at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Riverton. Together they had two daughters.
After graduation she worked at the A&W Drive Inn before going to work at Kathryn Gray. When she married, she became a full time stay at home mother. She was very involved with her children’s activities. After her girls were grown, she worked at Teton Video as their manager and went to work for Smith’s Food and Drug when they opened in Riverton. For the last few years she worked as a secretary for the Volunteers of America Center of Hope, formally known as Fremont County Alcohol Crisis Center, she had many friends there.
Her family said she loved watching the Denver Broncos and was their biggest fan. She collected porcelain dolls and had quite a collection that many people had contributed to. Above all she deeply loved her children and grandchildren and they all say she had the kindest heart.
She is survived by her daughters, Heather Dawn Buckingham and her companion, Mike Prosser, Ronda Michelle Buckingham and her companion, Mike McMasters; her grandchildren, Sheldon Buckingham, Reece Prosser, Zaryc Prosser, Kyle, Hailey, Kendra, Patrick, Jessica, and John McMasters; and her great grand children, Elizabeth and Wyatt McMaster.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Mike Buckingham, Jr., her husband Ronnie Mike Buckingham, her parents, Merle and Pearl Skidmore; and her brothers, Jeff and Merle J. Skidmore.
