Abby Dewey, 56, of Riverton, died on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Sage West Hospital – Riverton. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Davis Funeral Home starting at 7:00 pm. A rosary will be on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2015. Burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery.
Abby Marie Dewey was born on December 17, 1958 to Linus and Thelma (Geboe) Dewey in Riverton, WY. She grew up in the Riverton area and graduated from Riverton High School. She lived briefly in the Sheridan area and moved back to Riverton.
She was of the Catholic faith. Ms. Dewey enjoyed spending time with her son Sparky and his family, listening to music and watching numerous television shows.
She went to school and became a CNA and was employed at Westward Heights Nursing Home in Lander, WY for a number of years before getting injured, which ultimately led to retirement.
She is survived by her son, Danny Ortiz, Sr. and his wife Amanda of Riverton, WY; her grandchildren, Tristan Ortiz, Aurora Ortiz, Brayden Ortiz, and Danny Ortiz, Jr.; her mother, Thelma Dewey; her brothers Jerry Dewey and David Dewey; and her sisters, Shelia Dewey, Sherri Dewey, and Caroline Dewey.
She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Megan Dewey; her father, Linus Dewey; and her brothers, Paul Dewey, Pat Dewey, and Phillip Dewey.
