Vivian Lucile Marty of Riverton died Thursday evening, April 12, 2007, at Riverton Memorial Hospital. She was 84 years old.
Cremation has taken place and, at her request, no services will be held.
Vivian Lucile Horner was born March 18, 1923, in Dunlap, Okla., the daughter of Byron E. Horner and Vernila (Vanfleet) Horner. She attended elementary schools in Woodward, Okla., and was graduated from high school in May, Okla., in 1941.
Following high school, she moved to Wichita, Kan., where she worked for the war effort in the Beechcraft plant.
She moved to Riverton in 1954.
On May 29, 1955, she married Joseph Charles Marty.
They operated the family business -- Marty's Market.
She also worked at the First National Bank of Riverton (now First Interstate Bank), and returned there in 1960 to work another 17 years until her retirement in 1977. She was a bookkeeper and keeper of the general ledger.
Mrs. Marty was a member of the B.P.O.Does Lodge.
Her family said she loved traveling, toll painting, and listening to audio books after she suffered macular degeneration.
Survivors include a brother, Keith E. "Pat" Horner of Norman, Okla.; brother-in-law, Gene Marty and his wife Jeri of Colorado; nephew, Robert G. "Bob" Horner and his wife Angela of Norman, Okla.; nieces, Trisha Dudley, Sue Kuder, and Jeannie Fortney, and many local friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Charles Marty, Sr., on July 26, 1975, and a son, Joseph Charles Marty, Jr., in an automobile accident on May 5, 1975.
