Theresa Short, 82, of Riverton, died on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at her home in Riverton. As were her wishes she will be cremated and no services will be held.
Theresa Regina Stowell was born on June 8, 1932 in Elida, NM to Alfred C. and Caroline (Hendrix) Stowell. She was the youngest of six children, five girls and one boy. She grew up in Roswell, NM where she attended schools and graduated high school.
She was baptized into the Catholic faith.
She lived in New Mexico all of her life until moving to Wyoming in 2010 to be close to her daughters.
She married Joe Crumm and together they had five boys and two girls. They later divorced. She then married Leonard Short and he preceded her in death.
She worked as a secretary for Kennecott in Silver City, NM for 35 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Old Timer Fiddlers Association and the New Mexico and Arizona Fiddlers Association.
The love of her life was playing the guitar. She was the New Mexico State Champion for 25 years. Music was her one main interest and it carried her through many journeys.
She is survived by her daughters, Regina (Chris) Griffin and Annie Duggins; her sons, David (Martha) Crumm, Daniel (Iona) Crumm, Jerry (Joyce) Crumm, and Paul Crumm; and numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Caroline Stowell; her husbands, Joe Crumm and Leonard Short; her son, Jimmy Crumm; her son-in-law, Clint Duggins, and her brother and four sisters.
