Barbara “Barbie” Myers, 90, of Lander, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the Westward Heights Care Center. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Lander with Pastor Shannon Arnold will officiate. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral starting at 1:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Barbara Lee Myers was born on February 25, 1925 in Lander, Wyoming, to Ted and Eva (Appleby) Scoggan. She attended all twelve years of school in Lander.
After graduation, she worked as a legal secretary for Harry Harnsberger, Sr., Bill Smith and Jack Nicholas, until she married her beloved husband Albert Myers October 19, 1946 and moved to the Sweetwater. Barbara lived on the Myers family ranch the rest of her life.
She always enjoyed cooking for family, roundup and haying crews, and would pitch in when help was needed to save a calf, drive the feed truck or doctor something. Barbara was a care giver and took care of her brother, her parents, and her husband and loved to care for her great grandchildren.
Barbara served on the Fremont County School District #9, chairing the board for 8 years. She was a charter member of the Fremont County Cow-Belles, serving as president in 1965. She also served on the Fremont County Hospital Board, and was a member of Fremont County Farm Bureau and the First Baptist Church of Jeffrey City.
Barbara enjoyed rock hunting, feeding and watching birds, crossword puzzles and reading mysteries and her Bible. Most of all she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy and husband Doug Thompson, three grandchildren-Douglas Thompson and wife Sophal, Andrea and husband Thad Dockery, Matthew Thompson and wife Nikki, seven great-grandchildren-Laura, Rylee, Janae, Blaze, Coaltyn, Dylan and Audrey, 2 nieces-Dansie Stockton and Thea Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, parents Ted and Eva Scoggan and brother Teddy.
