A Funeral Mass for Esther Lena (Romero) Downey, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church with Father Demetrio Penascoza officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 29th at Davis Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to the Missouri Valley Fire Dept. would be appreciated in care of Davis Funeral Home.
Esther passed away June 24, 2015 at the Sagewest Healthcare in Riverton, Wyoming.
She was born April 23, 1936 in Riverton, Wyoming, daughter of Leo and Rosie (Giron) Romero. Riverton was where Esther grew up and attended schools.
On November 16, 1957, Esther married Louis Paul Downey in Riverton, Wyoming. They lived on the family farm in the Missouri Valley.
Esther enjoyed spending her time with her family, gardening and tending to her flowers, and having “breakfast” at the Casino.
Survivors include her friend and companion, Neil Aitken; sons, Paul J. Downey and his wife, Blair of Missouri Valley and Richard M. Downey of Huntley, MT; daughter, Lillian R. Brazelton and her husband, David of Powell, Wyoming; brother, LeRoy Romero and his wife, Beverly of Riverton; sisters, Marge Allington, Mary Romero and Anne and her husband Dave Saunders all of Riverton; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Miranda, Sydney, Louis, Nathan, Nicole, Bailie Johnson, Brian and Beth Brazelton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, parents, brothers, Silfred, Baudie, Lloyd Leonard and John Romero.
