Elizabeth “Liz” Valdez, 62, of Riverton, died at the Help for Health Hospice Home on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 10;00 am on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Elizabeth Ann Valdez was born on October 12, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA to Roger J. and Josephine (Hernandez) Valdes. She grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Garfield High School in East Los Angeles. When she was 19, she moved to Riverton, WY and made it her permanent home. She attended Central Wyoming College and earned her Associates Degree.

She was baptized into the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.

For many years she worked at Wind River Health Care as their Activities Director. She then went to work for the City of Riverton in the Parks Department for over six years, until her health began to decline.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary, where she helped with care packages for the troops and also the food drive.

She enjoyed hiking, playing darts, fishing, camping, and helping people. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Above all she loved her son and family and all they did together.

She is survived by her son, Michael Valdez of Riverton; her grandson, Kekoa Valdez of Riverton; her brothers, Jimmy (Becky) Valdez of Ontario, CA and Frank “Gordo” (Patsy) Valdez of Casper, WY; and her sister, Eyvonne (David) King of Norman, OK.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Emily Valdez in 1990; and her parents.
