Shirley Whitener, 85, of Riverton, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Sage West Hospital – Riverton. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Mountain View Cemetery.
Shirley Lavonne Fresorger was born in Wheatland, WY on July 18,1930 to August and Mollie (Cook) Fresorger. She was one of six children growing up and living most of her life in Riverton.
She was a member of the Riverton Church of Nazarene.
On May 7, 1948 she married Robert L. Whitener in Riverton, WY. Together they raised their two children, Roberta and Ray.
She worked for DH print as an assembler for years. Her favorite “job” was being a foster grandparent at both Riverton and Arapahoe.
She enjoyed crocheting, collecting piggy banks, gambling, and traveling. She loved to get her hair done and above all she loved her family.
She is survived by her son, Ray Whitener; her grandchildren, Ronya Schlager, Shelly Whitener, Dustin Whitener, Tammy Carter, and Charles Bracken, III; her brother, Richard Fresorger; her sisters, Faye Plumlee, Barbara Dodson, Darlene Cory, and Sandy Critton; and her 11 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Mollie Fresorger; her husband, Robert Whitener; her daughter, Roberta Whitener; and her grandson Devin Whitener.
