A graveside memorial service for Winifred Flora “Winnie” Walrod, 79, will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Mark Rader of the United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial contributions to PAWS for Life in care of Davis Funeral Home will be appreciated. Mrs. Walrod passed away July 24, 2015 at Morning Star Manor in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. She was born March 17, 1936 in Pinedale, Wyoming, daughter of Arthur W. and Virginia (Hoyt) Bowlsby. She grew up in Bondurant and attended school there and in Kemmerer, where she graduated high school. On March 31, 1956, Winnie married Loren L. Walrod in Bondurant, WY. Shortly after the couple married, they moved to Rawlins and then continued to move and live in various states due to Loren’s job in construction. Winnie and Loren settled in Fremont County in 1966. Mrs. Walrod was a full-time homemaker until 1975, when she began working as a cook at the Wind River elementary school. She retired in 1992. Winnie enjoyed rock hunting, camping, fishing and hunting. She was an excellent cook and was a very crafty lady. She especially loved to spend time with her family, including her grandkids and great grandkids. Survivors include her son, David Walrod of Riverton; daughter, Sylvia (Greg) Stone of Hudson, Wy; brothers, Earl (Lucy) Bowlsby of Kentucky, Bill (Kay) Bowlsby of Riverton, Ray (Nancy) Bowlsby of Lander and Dewey (Deanna) Bowlsby of Riverton; sister, Betty Coons of Utah; 1 grandson, Bryan (Kristen) Stone and 3 great grandchildren, Kenny, Caleb and Kiren Stone. Mrs. Walrod was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Lelsie Walrod and grandson, Myk Stone. On-line condolences for the family may be made at theDavisFuneralHome.com.
