Wanda J. SittingEagle, 45, of Casper, WY died at the Wyoming Medical Center on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. A rosary and wake will be on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 7:00 pm at Great Plains Hall. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 10:00 am at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with Father Phil Wagner officiating. Burial will be at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.
Wanda Jean SittingEagle was born on November 17, 1969 in Riverton, WY to Steven Wayne and Catherine June(Warren) SittingEagle. She grew up on the Wind River Reservation. She attended St. Stephen’s Catholic School from elementary thru junior high. The family moved to the Arapaho Ranch near Thermopolis and she attended high school in Thermopolis until her junior year when the family returned to Riverton. She graduated from Riverton High School. She was the 2nd attendant for Riverton Homecoming her senior year. She was a strong basketball player for both Thermopolis and Riverton.
She was baptized into the Catholic faith.
After graduation she worked for JTPA and was training to be a legal aid for Andy Baldwin. She was working as a housekeeper at the Marriot Motel in Casper before her passing.
Her family said that she was a very supportive and helpful person to anyone she knew. They said that she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Junie Warren of Casper: her daughter, Selena Eagle; her sons, Stephen Eagle, Lorenzo Eagle and Terencio Eagle; four granddaughters; special niece, Solana Sisneros;; her brother, Steven Eagle, Jr. of Casper, James Eagle of Arapahoe; her sisters, Stephanie Eagle of Casper, WY, Sara Wilson-Warren, and Toni Coulston; her uncles, Francis Warren, Benjamin George Warren, Phillip Warren Jr., George Eagle, and Silas SittingEagle; her aunts, Susan SittingEagle, Leanna SittingEagle, Dorothy SittingEagle, and Agnes Warren of El Paso, TX and her niece Maryella SittingEagle.
She was preceded in death by her father, Steven Wayne SittingEagle, Sr.; her paternal grandparents, Anthony and Delia SittingEagle, James SittingEagle, Amelia Caldwell-SittingEagle; her maternal grandparents, Phillip S. Warren, Sr., Mary Francis White Antelope, Samuel Gabriel Warren and Nellie Cecillia Ridgley-Warren; great grandparents, Eugena White Antelope and Agnes Norse White Antelope; great grandmothers, Emily SittingEagle and Maude Caldwell; maternal aunt, Mary Headley; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
